Maria Tomas Rodriguez was born in Madrid where she received her B.Sc. degree in Physics (Automatic Control) from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in 1998. Since 2000 she has been based in United Kingdom. She obtained her M.Sc. in and Ph.D in Automatic Control Systems Engineering from The Sheffield University in 2001 and 2005 respectively. In 2007 she received her MPhil degree in Aeronautical Engineering from The Imperial College of London. From 2005 until 2007 she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department at The Imperial College of London and since 2008 she is with The City University of London where she is a Senior Lecturer at The School of Mathematics, Computer Science & Engineering.
She has published several articles in international scientific journals/conferences, various book chapters and she is coauthor of two books in the field of Nonlinear Systems. She has supervised 3 PhD students to completion and currently she is supervising 2 PhD candidates. She frequently carries out editorial tasks and acts as PhD external examiner both in UK and abroad. Her major research interests are: Nonlinear systems, Vibrations and oscillations damping in mechanical systems and Modelling and Simulation.
